Vectran Fiber

Warwick is a World-Class Manufacturer of Vectran Fiber-Based Materials

Warwick uses Vectran® fiber. a liquid crystal aromatic polyester noted for its thermal and chemical stability, moisture resistance, high strength and modulus, to enhance the performance of many of our products.

Among other applications, we have woven Vectran to strengthen fabric for use in blimps, lighter-than-air vehicles, NASA's Pathfinder mission to Mars, and high-performance sailcloth.

Vectran's excellent flex/fold characteristics have led to many uses in the rubber reinforcement industry in hose and diaphragm construction.

  • High dielectric strength

  • Outstanding cut resistance

  • Excellent flex/fold characteristics

  • Low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE)

  • Outstanding vibration damping characteristics

  • Excellent property retention at high/low temperatures

Vectran Properties and Characteristics:

  • High strength and modulus

  • Excellent creep resistance

  • High abrasion resistance

  • High impact resistance

  • Minimal moisture absorption

  • Excellent chemical resistance

"Vectran is a high-performance thermoplastic multifilament yarn spun from Vectran liquid crystal polymer (LCP). Vectran is the only commercially-available melt spun LCP fiber in the world. Vectran fiber exhibits exceptional strength and rigidity. Pound for pound, Vectran fiber is five times stronger than steel and ten times stronger than aluminum."
